The Palms Commons

Expedition 01 · Version 2.2 · iPhone, iPad & Android

One feed for everything happening in Indian Palms.

Two homeowners' associations, a country club and the neighbors' own Facebook groups all publish news in different places. Almost nobody reads all four. The Commons reads them so you don't have to.

  • HOA noticesAssociation businessBoard meetings, rules and assessments
  • Club InstagramLive music and tonight’s menuSpecials and shows around the valley
  • Weather + air qualityThe week aheadWith the AQI reading that matters in a desert summer
  • Facebook groupsGate and road closuresThe kind of thing worth a notification
  • A short summary of every public notice, with the original always one tap away.
  • A community map of gates, pools, courts and clubs. Tap a place to call, get directions or check who has access.
  • Anything with a date lands on a calendar that syncs into the phone's own Calendar app.
  • The Commons Monthly: the month's grounds, board and neighborhood news, written up like a newspaper. Every story searchable, even with no signal.
  • A week of weather with the air quality reading that matters in a desert summer, and what the kitchen is serving tonight.
  • Notifications only for gate and road closures, weather warnings and association business.
  • Built for iPad readers: respects system text size and keeps lines a readable width. No account, nothing to configure.

Not official, and it says so up front

The Commons isn't run by, affiliated with or endorsed by any association or the club. Summaries are machine-written, so anything involving money, a deadline or a rule links straight to the source.

Seasonal feature · Halloween

The Treats & Decor Map.

Every October the app grows a map. Neighbors mark homes giving out treats, and ones worth a look, and families plan the night around it.

0 of 20 visited

Tap a pin to mark it visited.

  • Treats
  • Decor

The banner that opens it, built from our own handoff: the ghost floats on a 2.4 second loop, the bat flaps, and the pumpkin lights flicker unevenly so they read as candlelight. All of it rests when Reduce Motion is on.

  • Add your home as a treats or decor stop in a couple of taps.
  • Filter by treats, decor or the stops you haven't visited yet.
  • Native map pins with clustering, and notes like "Porch lights on from 5."

Seasonal feature · December

Holiday Golf Cart Parade, live.

One phone rides in the lead cart. Everyone else sees where the parade is and when it will reach their street. Nothing to sign up for, and your spot never leaves your phone.

Tap a house to pick where you'll watch, then play the parade.

The parade starts at 6:00 PM.

Carts line up from 5:15 at the Palm Terrace clubhouse.

The lead cart reaches Odlum Dr around 6:26 PM.

Your spot never leaves your phone.

For neighbors

Three ways in: the banner on the front page, the parade pinned to the top of Events, or a QR code on a sign that opens the map with no download and no sign-in. Switch on Notify me at 5 minutes and the phone tells you when to head to the curb.

For organizers

A five-step checklist: date and time, the route (tap each turn and Apple Maps follows the streets), a note for neighbors, one rehearsal only organizers can see, and who carries the lead phone.

In their hands

Nothing reaches neighbors until the organizers say so. New helpers join from an invite link and get approved, with no passwords. The banner can go live before the route exists and switch over without an app update.
